Incompatible browser

The Public Laboratory website is designed for use in any browser except Internet Explorer. To view it properly, please use Firefox, Chrome, or another standards-compliant browser. Support for Internet Explorer is planned, but it's a good idea for you to get another browser anyways -- IE poses a security risk for your computer.

Water Quality Sensor

Developed during the Water Hackathon on March 23-25 in New York City, the water quality sensor is a multipurpose tool for collecting data remotely. This tool is rapidly changing and is being used as part of the on going research initiative called DontFlush.Me

This tool consists of an Arduino microcontroller, a set of water quality sensors, and a network connection module. As currently developed this tool uses a GSM based cellular module to send data via SMS.

Balloon Telemetry Kit

This kit was created as a means to improve the georeferencing of images captured using balloon mapping. This kit is based around the open-source Arduino mircocontroller. Utilizing a GPS receiver, barometric sensor, three-axis accelerometer and data logger, this module allows for the synchronization of data with images captured from a Canon camera running the CHDK.
